18 months ago my father who is a builder built an extension to my house worth about £50000 but he only charged me £20000 saying that he would treat the balance as a gift to me and my wife. Now he has gone bankrupt and his trustee is asking for the £30000 short paid. What are my rights?

I am being threatened with legal action by a trustee in bankruptcy but I think he is bluffing and I propose to ignore him. Do you think this is the right thing to do as I am told that insolvency practitioners do not like to bother with contested actions as they are usually too much trouble.
